Last week I was so privileged to photograph the public opening of the Joe Fafard Exhibition at the Winnipeg Art Gallery. I had never heard of Joe Fafard before but I was seriously so blown away by his work, by the range of it but also the emotions that he manages to create on the faces and in the poses of his sculptures. I had never been a big fan of sculpture before but I couldn’t stop trying to stare at each one as I was photographing other people looking at them. I’m definitely, definitely going to go back again so I have more time to look at each piece and really feel each one. And also, Joe Fafard seems like the nicest man! He was so friendly and cute and such a good person, and that makes me love his art even more! If you want to read more about Joe Fafard, click here for his website.
That same night was also the re-opening of the Winnipeg Art Gallery’s newly renovated rooftop sculpture garden. It was so amazingly gorgeous and peaceful, and the light was so beautiful, and the band, Les Six Crockes, was fabulous (and a number of people said the same to me, too!). It’s a beautiful venue, and I found out it can be rented out, too!
Thank you so much to Doren Roberts (Special Events Co-ordinator), Dr. Stephen Borys (Director of the WAG), Lana Siman (who works for Joe Fafard and was wonderful in pointing people out to me), and to Joe Fafard for being amazing, and I’m so happy I’ve discovered his work!!
Here are some of my favorite photos from the night, and also CLICK HERE to view a slideshow.

Meet little Paige and her mom and dad, Leanne and Steve! I went to their house on Paige’s 2nd birthday to take some fun and fabulous photos - it was a beautiful, bright and sunny day and I had so much fun running after little Paige with my camera! I love that age, when little kids are starting to talk a lot (but some of it isn’t super understandable to non-family members!) and also have become their own little selves. The cutest thing was how Paige would say “okay” when Leanne would suggest something, oh she was so so cute!!
Leanne was so excited and I LOVED that she (with Steve’s help) brought out all kinds of furniture into the yard! Paige didn’t want too much to do with the couch but we managed to get a few cute ones (with the help of Smarties and Leanne asking Paige where “the lady” was (a.k.a. me), so Paige would look up at me and point)! And I loved that I got some cute photos of Steve and Leanne together, too! Leanne and Steve were having a birthday party for Paige later that afternoon so they were setting up some tents and games, and Paige got to open a few gifts while I was there and even got a cool Elmo bike from her grandma and grandpa - it made noises when she pressed buttons and she loved that!!
I had such a wonderful time with them all, and it made me want a little girl even more!!
And it was even a little more exciting because Leanne has now officially announced that she’s pregnant again (about 15 weeks)!! I’m so happy for them, and Steve and Leanne certainly have good looking genes and already made one super cute little kid! Okay, time for the photos! I could definitely write more about many other cute little things that Paige did but then this would get really long! Thank you so much to Leanne, Steve and Paige - I loved hanging out with you and I’m so happy for all the excitement coming your way! Here are lots of my favorite photos from the day, and CLICK HERE for a slideshow from the day!!!

Paige is so cute when she runs!!! (Here her mommy asked if she wanted some juice and she took off running to go get it!)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE that Leanne brought a couch outside for photos!!!

The happy family (including baby growing in belly!)!!!

This photo makes me smile every time I look at it!!
