Weddings with Curtis Moore

Starting on August 3, I’m going to be helping the amazing Curtis Moore with seven weddings, and I’m both so excited and also a little nervous because I want to do a really good job.  Curtis has been absolutely wonderful to me – teaching me, helping me, giving me things, sharing information (including this blog template that’s specifically designed for photographers) and so so so much more.  He’s also an incredible inspiration because his photos are absolutely incredible and he has an amazing amount of talent and also complete dedication.  I could honestly go on and on about how talented he is and how much I love the photos he creates, and I feel so blessed to be his friend and to have the opportunity to work with him and learn from him.

I’m also incredibly excited that Curtis will be photographing Jody and I when we get married, and he’ll do a fabulous shoot with us afterwards in a couple locations – I want some photos in a park or other area around nature, and I also want some photos in the gritty urban downtown area, with fabulous old painted brick walls in the background!  I so can’t wait to have amazing photos of Jody and I together and I absolutely wouldn’t want anyone other than Curtis to take them!  I’ll have them hanging all over our house!!!

Two nights ago I went along on an engagement shoot with Curtis and it was so fun, and I’ll be the second shooter at this couple’s wedding in September so it was really cool to meet them beforehand.  I loved watching Curtis guide them into poses so he could get the amazing shots, and I also loved being able to use Curtis’s lenses which was so fun for me.  Curtis is incredible with teaching me and sharing his knowledge, so before the shoot began he taught me how to move around the focus points so I’m not always focusing and recomposing, and he also showed me how to use the in-camera light meter to gage what my shutter speed should be.  I need to practice with these things a lot so I completely have the hang of it before my first wedding with him.  And I’ll also start using the histogram much more so I learn how to read them better.  Working with Curtis is already making me a better photographer, and I’m looking forward to improving so much as I work with him.  I want to make him proud, too, and give him great images, so that gives me even more incentive to practice and keep getting better and better.

I would love to start shooting couples to get experience, and I love romantic and cool couples photos!  To start out, I’ll charge only a minimal session fee and give them the edited full-size files of at least between 25-40 photos, which they can print for their personal use.  If anyone knows any couples who would like photos of themselves, tell them to contact me!

A couple weeks ago I helped Curtis with a wedding so I could get the hang of things and get used to it all before I’m the official second shooter.  He already had a second shooter for that wedding, Kristel Bueckert, so I didn’t feel pressure and just enjoyed learning and experiencing it all.  I absolutely love so many of the photos I got and I’ve printed a number of them!  Curtis recently told me that I could post any non-people photos, so I’m going to post a few that I’m proud of!  You can see photos of the wedding on Curtis’s blog, go to the post on Brendin & Kristy’s wedding. I’m so looking forward to shooting more weddings with Curtis, they really are such a wonderful experience and I so love the beautiful photos that come out of it!
