On August 16th I helped Curtis as his second shooter for Kim & Richard’s wedding. It was such a fun day that took us from little town to little town, all maybe twenty minutes or half an hour northeast of Winnipeg. We first went to one little town, to the house where the groom was getting ready. Then we followed the bride and bridesmaids to Kim and Richard’s house in another little town, and took lots of photos of the girls getting ready – they were all so fun! Then we went to another little town for the wedding ceremony, and then we took photos of the bride and groom and wedding party at Bird’s Hill Provincial Park, and on a long dirt road, and finally in a sunflower field! That was my first time being in a sunflower field, it was so beautiful and magical!!! And then we went to another little town for the reception. Oh, and Kim and Richard were driven around in such a cool old car (owned and restored by one of the groomsmen), I loved taking photos of it!
I loved being in the countryside just outside of the city – it was so charming, so natural, so quaint, so beautiful! I loved all the fields we passed, and the little towns had such charm to them. Jody dreams of us having a house someday on a big piece of land, where our animals and children can have lots of room to play, and after driving around the countryside and little towns that day I can actually see myself liking it, too (Jody loved hearing me say that!)!
Kim and Richard have been together for awhile, and their little son Brody was so adorable and such a big part of the day and my memories of the day. He wanted to be with his mom and dad during the ceremony, and at one point he was carried out because he was crying and when he was brought back in, he went running down the center isle to his mum and dad, it was so cute! There was also the absolute cutest little flower girl, Azaria, and I couldn’t stop taking photos of her because she was so adorable and animated! She kept posing for me with upside-down sunglasses on when we were at the park, and then kept trying to put them on my leg but they wouldn’t stay up for her!
I hope to take some more photos of her very soon!!
The reception was so fun! Kim’s aunt and uncle had a big tent on their property, and they invited people to camp out that night so there were a bunch of tents and trailers in the background, so cool! They had a bonfire as well, we noticed it just as we were leaving at the end of the night. What was so cool about the reception is that it was just a big party, so relaxed, so free, so fun. They had a whole pig there that was sliced up in pulled-pork style for the buffet line, oh my gosh was it tasty!! And everyone there, of all ages, was just having the best time. Kim and Richard were given some very funny (and slightly embarrassing) gifts in front of the whole crowd and I couldn’t stop laughing at all the cheering and good-humored comments they were getting from all the guests!
So, it was a wonderful wedding! The whole day was so fun, the bride and groom were so nice and so cute, the wedding party was so fun and having a good time, the little kids were adorable, the country scenery was so charming, and the reception was so relaxed and great fun. Thank you to Kim and Richard for welcoming me and letting me be a part of their special day, and thank you to Curtis for letting me help and learn and grow, and as always for being so awesome!! Curtis has many photos posted and a link to a slideshow of photos from the day, go look at his blog to see them!! And here are a few of my detail photos of the day:
