Little Nate was 5 months old exactly when I met him (and his parents) to take some fun photos! He’s SO cute, I loved all his hair and his big smiles, and his parents put him in the cutest little man onesies! He was so funny cause that day he suddenly decided to start making all these silly faces with his tongue still inside his mouth but half sticking out, I so love how babies go through these funny little mini phases with different faces and different sounds! I had such a fun time hanging out with the whole family, they were so wonderful and of course so in love with little Nate!

I’ll stop writing and get on to a few quick photos for them to see! Thank you so much you guys, I so loved meeting you!

Amber, Greg & little Landon :: Engaged & Cute Family Photos!!

Meet Amber and Greg, and their adorable little son Landon, who is about 13 months old!! We met a couple weeks ago at Bruce Park for some Landon photos, some family photos, and then some engagement photos! I absolutely love them, I did from the first moment we met many months ago – they’re so sweet, nice, interesting, smart, and I just have so much fun hanging out and talking with them! I won’t go into detail but I could write so much about all the things I love chatting with them about!!! Overall, I just love how in love they are with their son, with each other, with being the best parents and people they can be, and with loving life and all their wonderful plans for the future!

Landon is soooooo cute!!! I loved seeing him running all over, so active and curious and all little boy! And at 13 months, when you ask him how old he is, he’ll hold up one finger, and when you ask him what a snake says, he says “hsssss”, and I know there was another animal sound too that I can’t remember right now. He’s so smart! And with all the mosquitoes flying all around, Landon didn’t even seem to be bothered much which was impressive cause the adults were hating all those little monster bugs! Amber and Greg have been together for almost 7 years (I’m 90% sure that it’s 7 years), and what I love so much is they have such a wonderful comfort and friendship with each other, but they also have such a sweet and expressive love, it’s so wonderful to see!!! And they’re naturals in front of the camera which is unusual and very fun!

After our photo session, Amber and Greg had me over to their house and we chatted for a couple more hours and had such a fun evening! It meant so much to me and I loved so much getting to know them even better and getting to talk about all kinds of fun stuff!! Thank you SO MUCH you two, I had such fun that night with you all and I’m looking forward to getting to know you even better and then to your wedding this fall!!! Now here are a bunch of my favorites from the night!! ::

Ethan, my little nephew!! (And my brother & sister-in-law, too!)

A month ago I flew down to Atlanta to visit my brother, Mark, my sister-in-law, Jamie, and my little nephew, Ethan! Ethan was 13 months old at the time and it was the first time I’d been able to meet him, so I was soooooooooooooo excited!!! I had loved looking at all the photos my brother would send, and the few little videos, and I was so in love with the little guy already, so getting to meet him and get him used to me and play with him and hold him and all that was so wonderful for me, it meant so so so much. And Ethan learned to really walk on his own at the very end of my visit, I LOVED getting to see that and cheer him on, we were all clapping for him and he’d get so proud of himself and clap, too, so so cute!!! I also love all the little expressions he makes, and his big huge smile, and there’s one eyebrow photo I got that I think is so hilarious! And of course it was also so wonderful for me to get to spend so much time with Mark and Jamie as well, it had been over two years since I’d seen them, which is way too long. And I was taking lots of mental notes the whole time on various toys, schedules, etc. – in preparation for being a parent myself soon! Jamie gave me so much helpful advice about being in the hospital, labor, and first coming home that meant so much to me as well. It was a wonderful visit!!! Although it was REALLY hot there, we could barely stand to be outside for any time at all so stayed inside the AC most of the time. I like mild weather!

This is now one of my all-time favorite kid photos, I love it’s magical quality and how to it speaks to the joy of discovery and joy of life!

Look at that laugh, I love it so much!!!

Ethan loved “blowing bubbles”, sometimes he’d get so into it and be doing it for a few minutes straight. This was a lucky shot, that my camera refocused on the spit coming out! He looks so happy, and now Mark and Jamie have a photographic memory of him loving to do this!

I went to see Nate and his parents a little awhile ago on his 1st birthday for some photos!!! The last time I had really seen Nate was when he was about 3 months old, and he looks so different now and has become such a fun and animated little boy!! It’s always so incredible to me how much babies learn and grow and change in their first year! Now Nate was crawling all over, furniture-walking, playing with all kinds of cool toys, he discovered how to climb on a side table and get to the phone while I was there, and I loved how he opens and closes his bedroom door! He’s so cute! Oh, and I LOVE that when he’s first standing up he stands on his tiptoes, so cute!!! I loved seeing his mom and dad, Pam and Trevor, again as well, they’re so wonderful, fun, interesting, and I love chatting with them about all kinds of things!

These photos are from awhile back, as you can tell from the still-present snow! I’m finally getting around to blogging my favorites!

You may recognize Carol and Patrick from their wonderful and intimate wedding last summer, here and here! I met up with them this spring when they were in town for some family photos with them and their adorable daughter, Jolie! It was so much fun seeing them again, like catching up with old friends! And I loved getting to know Jolie a little better this time and seeing her wonderful silly side – she has THE BEST laugh, it lights up her whole face!!!

I’ll keep this short, but here are just a few of my favorites! They’re such a good looking family, and so wonderful! Thank you again Carol, Patrick and Jolie, and let us know when you’re in Winnipeg again, maybe Jody and I can meet you out for breakfast or lunch!!

Meet little Julia and her proud big brother Easton! Julia was just over two weeks old when I met her and she is so so so perfect and sweet and beautiful and adorable!!! Easton had said during his mom’s whole pregnancy that he wanted a sister so he was so happy (although he apparently thinks she’s a little boring now! ) He was a little shy at first but I managed to get him to like me I think! And then he was so good with kissing his little sister, and his mom had him smell Julia’s little foot and that was so funny to him!

Tamara and Jaret, I’m so happy for you both, Julia is so precious and it will be so much fun to see her grow! And Tamara, I’m so glad we finally met, you’re so wonderful!!!

Jody and I became friends with Jason & MaryAnne in 2008, when Jody did a huge renovation on the second floor of their house, and also earlier put in a bathroom on the main floor. He’d always come home and tell me how they were such good people, so fun, so nice, so smart, etc. And he always raved about their little girl, Amelie, who was I think 2 1/2 or 3 at the time – he’d say she was the cutest and best behaved little girl ever! Amelie was scared of Jody at first and that went on for awhile I think, and then she started referring to him as “The Man” (I love that!!!), and finally she got to the point of calling him Jody! I was so happy when I finally got to meet the family, and was equally impressed, they’re just the best of people and so wonderful, and so fun, and so interesting! And I also love that Jason and MaryAnne are both naturopathic doctors, I just listen and listen and try to get any knowledge I can from them in that area!

Little Ellyce (Lee Lee) arrived in late August 2008, and she was just a wee teensy little baby when they came over on the night of our wedding on September 2nd! I took some family photos and newborn photos soon after that (when I was just starting out in my own business!) – it’s incredible to look back and see all of Lee Lee’s dark newborn hair, and now I see how much Amelie has grown and changed!! I saw Amelie and Lee Lee two or three times after that, over the next year, and Lee Lee was growing into such a happy little girl! And Amelie was such a good big sister!

I was so excited to go spend more time with them to take lots of photos of the girls and some family photos! I love seeing both how similar Amelie and Lee Lee look, but also how different their personalities are. Amelie is so so so cute and pretty, and so animated and I love all the silly faces she makes!! And it’s so funny to me how much she loves TimBits!! I have so many photos of her going to the TimBits box! And little Lee Lee is such a happy little girl, she smiles so much, she’s so cuddly (I got to hold her and I loved it!!!!!!), and she seems so laid back and just so happy!

I’m trying out a new feature in the updated blog theme I use, so instead of having this be a long post with lots of photos, they’ll be in a kind of slideshow. And then I made a cool slideshow that I’ve embedded below that! So often with sessions, especially family sessions, there’s just so many expressions and fun and different thing, so I love how slideshows tell the story of the day so well!

Little Gabrielle! – Winnipeg Child Photographer

I so love having an ongoing relationship with my clients!! I first met Angela & Adrian back in November of 2008 when I shot their maternity photos, a month later I met little Gabrielle when she was a newborn, last summer I saw her again when she was six months old, and now I got to take her 1-year photos!!

She’s sooooo cute, and I absolutely love this age when they’re starting to walk and changing so much every day and learning so much and becoming little tiny people!! Gabrielle is so animated and has the best expressions ever, from her wide-eyed wondering expression, to her big smile, to her even bigger silly smile! I know I’ve said it before, but she so takes after her parents cause Adrian and Angela are so happy and smile and laugh so much, so of course Gabrielle does as well!! I loved seeing her walk all over, and she had a favorite blue toy that she wanted to hold all the time (blue is definitely her favorite color right now which is so cool, I didn’t realize babies had favorite colors!), oh and she’s so cute with mirrors – she smiles so big at herself and she kisses her reflection!! And I LOVE her red hair so much!!! At the end I got to pick her up and hold her for a couple minutes and I was so in love, she’s just the sweetest little girl!!!

Quick Hayden Preview!!

Last weekend when we were in Chicago, I finally got to meet my best friend Lindsey’s little man, Hayden!!! He just turned 1 on November 30 and for the past year I’d absolutely drank up his cuteness in all the photos Lindsey sent, and it killed me that I couldn’t go meet him. Jody and I stayed with Lindsey and Dave for the weekend and it was SO SO SO wonderful, I’ve missed them so much and even though the phone is wonderful, it still can’t make up for how good it is to see them and spend time with them.

I met Lindsey back in 2002 when we both worked for our fabulous judges, and we became friends immediately. She’s the most incredible person, so fun and hilarious, so outgoing, so silly, and also so incredibly caring and loyal and nice and smart and wonderful in every way. She’s been such a good friend to me in so many ways, and I’m also always so happy when I’m around her – people can’t not be happy when they’re around her!

Her husband Dave is so wonderful, too, and so funny and silly!!! He always makes me laugh so much, even when we’ve debated politics he still manages to make me laugh! I always loved Lindsey and Dave’s relationship so much and I love seeing them interact with each other (they’re especially funny driving together, they always argue over the route and everything else, it’s so funny!!!), they have such a fun and deep love and friendship and from early on after becoming friends with them, I learned from their relationship and dreamed of something like it for myself (which I have now!)! They were also two of the first people to meet Jody after we first met, and their approval and excitement for me meant so much!!!

I can’t tell you how excited I was for them when they got pregnant with Hayden! I still think of him as their little miracle baby! Lindsey had had two ectopic pregnancies, the first one actually burst one of her fallopian tubes and led to major surgery and her being off work for a month. They had been ready to try in vitro when Lindsey found out she was pregnant with Hayden!!! I’ve never been so happy for someone before, and when I heard that he was born and when she told me all about it, I was so weepy with happiness for them!

I’ll have many more photos posted of Hayden sometime soon, but I have some other things to finish first so I wanted to just post a couple for Lindsey (and for her mom!!). Hayden is sooooooooooo adorable, seriously so so so cute. Those big blue eyes, that little tiny nose that I absolutely adore, his little red lips, he’s absolutely perfect!!! And he’s so funny and sweet and animated and happy, which I knew he’d be cause of course Lindsey and Dave are his parents! He smiles and laughs all the time, he’s so active and already walking all over the place, and he’s so sweet! I’m so in love with him and I wish I lived right by them so I could see him all the time. And I LOVE seeing Lindsey and Dave being parents, they’re just like I knew they would be – wonderful and fun and exactly how I want to be when I’m a parent! They’re the most wonderful family!!!

Okay I’ll stop gushing! Here are just two photos of so so so so so many I took! I’ve looked through them quickly but couldn’t take the time to really pick favorites, so these are two from our first day there. He’s so cute!!! I’ll have more sometime soon!!!

The Pilek Family!

Meet the Pilek Family!! I took family photos for Cheryl’s sister a couple months ago so I was so excited to hear from her, I love referrals!! Cheryl and Russell have The.Most.Amazing.Property – seriously so gorgeous, so wild, with a little pond, a little old windmill, a rustic bridge, lots of natural trees and bushes and growth and lots of wide open spaces, it’s such a dream there!! And their boys, Keenan and Owen, get to have so much fun there!! They drive around in a golf cart, they have dirk bikes (maybe they’re called BMX bikes or something like that?!), they go snowmobiling on the property in the winter – I was telling my husband all about it and he was so jealous!! I had such a great time hanging out with them all and getting to see all the beautiful places there and watching the boys (and dad!) riding their bikes over the little hill and getting air!!
