Amber, Greg & little Landon :: Engaged & Cute Family Photos!!

Meet Amber and Greg, and their adorable little son Landon, who is about 13 months old!! We met a couple weeks ago at Bruce Park for some Landon photos, some family photos, and then some engagement photos! I absolutely love them, I did from the first moment we met many months ago – they’re so sweet, nice, interesting, smart, and I just have so much fun hanging out and talking with them! I won’t go into detail but I could write so much about all the things I love chatting with them about!!! Overall, I just love how in love they are with their son, with each other, with being the best parents and people they can be, and with loving life and all their wonderful plans for the future!

Landon is soooooo cute!!! I loved seeing him running all over, so active and curious and all little boy! And at 13 months, when you ask him how old he is, he’ll hold up one finger, and when you ask him what a snake says, he says “hsssss”, and I know there was another animal sound too that I can’t remember right now. He’s so smart! And with all the mosquitoes flying all around, Landon didn’t even seem to be bothered much which was impressive cause the adults were hating all those little monster bugs! Amber and Greg have been together for almost 7 years (I’m 90% sure that it’s 7 years), and what I love so much is they have such a wonderful comfort and friendship with each other, but they also have such a sweet and expressive love, it’s so wonderful to see!!! And they’re naturals in front of the camera which is unusual and very fun!

After our photo session, Amber and Greg had me over to their house and we chatted for a couple more hours and had such a fun evening! It meant so much to me and I loved so much getting to know them even better and getting to talk about all kinds of fun stuff!! Thank you SO MUCH you two, I had such fun that night with you all and I’m looking forward to getting to know you even better and then to your wedding this fall!!! A month ago I flew down to Atlanta to visit my brother, Mark, my sister-in-law, Jamie, and my little nephew, Ethan! Ethan was 13 months old at the time and it was the first time I’d been able to meet him, so I was soooooooooooooo excited!!! I had loved looking at all the photos my brother would send, and the few little videos, and I was so in love with the little guy already, so getting to meet him and get him used to me and play with him and hold him and all that was so wonderful for me, it meant so so so much. And Ethan learned to really walk on his own at the very end of my visit, I LOVED getting to see that and cheer him on, we were all clapping for him and he’d get so proud of himself and clap, too, so so cute!!! I also love all the little expressions he makes, and his big huge smile, and there’s one eyebrow photo I got that I think is so hilarious! And of course it was also so wonderful for me to get to spend so much time with Mark and Jamie as well, it had been over two years since I’d seen them, which is way too long. And I was taking lots of mental notes the whole time on various toys, schedules, etc. – in preparation for being a parent myself soon! Jamie gave me so much helpful advice about being in the hospital, labor, and first coming home that meant so much to me as well. It was a wonderful visit!!! Although it was REALLY hot there, we could barely stand to be outside for any time at all so stayed inside the AC most of the time. I like mild weather!

This is now one of my all-time favorite kid photos, I love it’s magical quality and how to it speaks to the joy of discovery and joy of life!

Look at that laugh, I love it so much!!!

Ethan loved “blowing bubbles”, sometimes he’d get so into it and be doing it for a few minutes straight. This was a lucky shot, that my camera refocused on the spit coming out! He looks so happy, and now Mark and Jamie have a photographic memory of him loving to do this!

I love sweet photos of babies with individual family members!! Tavia, Nathan and their family are very good friends of ours, so it made it even more fun for me to make photos for them! I loved seeing big brother Nick with sweet little Lucy (and later cuddling and playing with Tyler), big sister Kaila (who is way better with babies than I am even at my age!), and big brother Tyler, who is so sweet and adorable with Lucy and such a proud big brother! And of course Tavia and Nathan with Lucy are some of my favorites! Even their dog Einstein got in on the baby cuddles!

Thank you so much you guys, you’re all fabulous!!! Here are a few of my favorites!!

I LOVE the look she’s giving her daddy in the middle photo!! I have a photo of myself as a baby giving my dad a similar look and it makes me laugh every time I see it, and my dad always says, “It was the first of many such looks over the years!”

These photos are from awhile back, as you can tell from the still-present snow! I’m finally getting around to blogging my favorites!

You may recognize Carol and Patrick from their wonderful and intimate wedding last summer, here and here! I met up with them this spring when they were in town for some family photos with them and their adorable daughter, Jolie! It was so much fun seeing them again, like catching up with old friends! And I loved getting to know Jolie a little better this time and seeing her wonderful silly side – she has THE BEST laugh, it lights up her whole face!!!

I’ll keep this short, but here are just a few of my favorites! They’re such a good looking family, and so wonderful! Thank you again Carol, Patrick and Jolie, and let us know when you’re in Winnipeg again, maybe Jody and I can meet you out for breakfast or lunch!!

Jody and I became friends with Jason & MaryAnne in 2008, when Jody did a huge renovation on the second floor of their house, and also earlier put in a bathroom on the main floor. He’d always come home and tell me how they were such good people, so fun, so nice, so smart, etc. And he always raved about their little girl, Amelie, who was I think 2 1/2 or 3 at the time – he’d say she was the cutest and best behaved little girl ever! Amelie was scared of Jody at first and that went on for awhile I think, and then she started referring to him as “The Man” (I love that!!!), and finally she got to the point of calling him Jody! I was so happy when I finally got to meet the family, and was equally impressed, they’re just the best of people and so wonderful, and so fun, and so interesting! And I also love that Jason and MaryAnne are both naturopathic doctors, I just listen and listen and try to get any knowledge I can from them in that area!

Little Ellyce (Lee Lee) arrived in late August 2008, and she was just a wee teensy little baby when they came over on the night of our wedding on September 2nd! I took some family photos and newborn photos soon after that (when I was just starting out in my own business!) – it’s incredible to look back and see all of Lee Lee’s dark newborn hair, and now I see how much Amelie has grown and changed!! I saw Amelie and Lee Lee two or three times after that, over the next year, and Lee Lee was growing into such a happy little girl! And Amelie was such a good big sister!

I was so excited to go spend more time with them to take lots of photos of the girls and some family photos! I love seeing both how similar Amelie and Lee Lee look, but also how different their personalities are. Amelie is so so so cute and pretty, and so animated and I love all the silly faces she makes!! And it’s so funny to me how much she loves TimBits!! I have so many photos of her going to the TimBits box! And little Lee Lee is such a happy little girl, she smiles so much, she’s so cuddly (I got to hold her and I loved it!!!!!!), and she seems so laid back and just so happy!

I’m trying out a new feature in the updated blog theme I use, so instead of having this be a long post with lots of photos, they’ll be in a kind of slideshow. And then I made a cool slideshow that I’ve embedded below that! So often with sessions, especially family sessions, there’s just so many expressions and fun and different thing, so I love how slideshows tell the story of the day so well!

The Pilek Family!

Meet the Pilek Family!! I took family photos for Cheryl’s sister a couple months ago so I was so excited to hear from her, I love referrals!! Cheryl and Russell have The.Most.Amazing.Property – seriously so gorgeous, so wild, with a little pond, a little old windmill, a rustic bridge, lots of natural trees and bushes and growth and lots of wide open spaces, it’s such a dream there!! And their boys, Keenan and Owen, get to have so much fun there!! They drive around in a golf cart, they have dirk bikes (maybe they’re called BMX bikes or something like that?!), they go snowmobiling on the property in the winter – I was telling my husband all about it and he was so jealous!! I had such a great time hanging out with them all and getting to see all the beautiful places there and watching the boys (and dad!) riding their bikes over the little hill and getting air!!

Walter’s Surprise 80th Birthday Party!!

Walter’s actual birthday isn’t until this fall, but his wonderful family spent a lot of time planning the perfect surprise birthday party for him!! His daughter Nancy and her husband Doug were celebrating their 25th wedding anniversary, so it became a reason for the whole family to get together so Walter wouldn’t suspect anything!! They had family come from across Canada, I believe from BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Ontario, and Walter’s younger brother came in from California!!

The family told Walter that a photographer was coming for some family photos, which was completely true, but they didn’t tell him that shortly after that lots of friends would be arriving to surprise him with an early 80th birthday party, so fun and sneaky! Shortly after I got there they did tell him and I loved seeing the surprise and shock and joy on his face, and then we took lots of fun family photos while everyone simultaneously went into high gear with decorating for the party and getting all the food ready. After the family photos I hung around for awhile to take some photos of the party decorations and guests and of Walter interacting with everyone. He was so cute and has absolutely the most heartwarming smile, I loved him immediately!

The whole family was wonderful and so much fun, and I was so happy for Walter being surrounded with so much love! Thank you so much to Jody for finding me, and to Mark, Nancy, Doug, Walter, Margot, and the whole rest of the family (I remember some of your names but this will get long if I start listing everyone, and then I’ll feel bad for the few people I left out!). Mark and Jody also had two cute cats who starred in some photos cause I love cats so much!!! Oh and I also loved seeing the so-cool bomb shelter in their basement straight out of the 50’s or 60’s!!

Stonewall Family Fun!

Awhile ago I went up to the Quarry in Stonewall for some family photos! Last year in October I first met Malisa and her little son Adam, and I loved seeing how much he’d grown and changed, and he’s still all little boy!! I got so excited whenever I’d capture a little smile and especially when he’d look at the camera and also smile!! We had fun getting his attention by pretending there were owls or foxes somewhere in the distance, I love the little things that make children look up! And I also got to see little Nate, who I photographed when he was just one week old!!! He was three months at this time and sooooooooooo cute!!! He has the biggest eyes and he’s so teensy, and I can’t stop smiling whenever I look at the photos of him in his Bombers hat cause it’s so big on his little baby head! It was such a fun night and filled with laughter, this family is seriously so fun! I’ll have a link to a slideshow up by tomorrow afternoon with many more photos cause I feel that even this big bunch here doesn’t do an adequate job of telling the fun story of the night! Thank you so much you guys, it was so fun seeing you again and hanging out, and I’m so sorry I took so long to get you these photos.

The Hoel Family

Meet the Hoel Family!! We met up awhile ago at Kildonan Park for some fun family photos. There were 4 generations which I thought was really cool!! I got a little worried when it started raining as I was driving to the park, and sometimes we had a few raindrops falling but luckily the rain held off and it made for some great color in the photos, and we all had such a great time that I hardly noticed the occasional rain at all. Family Love on Mother’s Day

On Mother’s Day I had a session with a big and wonderful family, complete with four generations! Beverly and Charlie are the grandparents (and great-grandparents!), and they have three children who all gathered together with their families to celebrate and love their mother on this special day. I loved taking so many photos of all the individual groups, the couples, the little ones, and the big group all together. There were lots of wonderful laughs and silliness and chatting and fun and love, and I left feeling inspired and warmed by their closeness and also missing my own family.
